Our LinkedIn
A professional profile, and a job board for the roles you are hiring for.
Our LinkedIn is two things: a professional profile and a job board, both on your own server. Add a headline, where you work, where you are and your work history to your profile; post a role you are hiring for; browse the open roles on your install; and apply with a covering note. It is the same content you would put on a professional network, kept in your own database.
The profile is not a separate thing to maintain — it is the person you already have, with a headline, a company, a location and a work history added, so editing your headline never renames you and your posts stay signed with the same handle. The job board is deliberately its own kind of row rather than a post: a role has a state, a kind of employment and a set of applications, none of which a feed post has, so a job never turns up in your wall or your timeline. An application is one row per person per role, so applying twice cannot double it, and taking an application back keeps the record rather than erasing it. What this app deliberately does not have is the social graph — the connections feed, endorsements and recruiter messages — because those are features of a network full of strangers, and your install is one business.
Step by step
How to post your first role
Every step is the real one in your own install. The profile is your person row extended, and the job and its applications are rows in your own database.
- STEP 01
Open Jobs
From your workspace, open Jobs. It shows the open roles on your install and the form to post a new one.
- STEP 02
Post a role
Give the role a title and a description, and set the company, the location and the kind of employment. It is posted open and appears at the top of the board.
- STEP 03
Fill in your profile
Open People, open your own profile, and add a headline, your company, your location and your work history. It is your person row extended, so your posts stay signed with the same handle.
- STEP 04
Apply to a role
Open a role and apply, with an optional covering note. Your application appears on the role, and applying again does not add a second one.
- STEP 05
Close a role when it is filled
Close the role and it leaves the open board. Every application made to it stays readable, so the record of who applied is not lost.
What it does
A profile that is your person, and a board that is a board
A professional profile, not a second identity
Your headline, company, location and work history are added to the person you already are. Editing them never changes your name or the handle your posts are signed with, so your profile and your posts cannot drift apart.
A work history you arrange
Add each role with its title, company and dates, and mark the current one. A role that is current has no end date, so it reads as "2019 – Present" rather than claiming both an end and a present.
A job board that is a board
A role has a title, a description, a company, a location and a kind of employment — full-time, contract, internship and the rest. It is posted open and takes applications; it is never a feed post, so it does not appear in your wall or your timeline.
Apply once, withdraw, re-apply
An application is one row per person per role, so applying twice cannot double it. You can take an application back and apply again later, and the record is kept either way rather than erased.
Close a role without losing the applications
When a role is filled or pulled, close it. It leaves the open board but every application that was made stays readable — closing is reversible and never destroys the record.
Everything on your own server
The profiles, the roles and the applications are rows in your own database, on your own disk. There is no third party, no recruiter InMail and no feed of strangers.
